The '''Machete''' is useful for decapitating [[Clot]]s, [[Bloat]]s and [[Gorefast]]s. The Machete is basically a more powerful version of the [[Knife]], as both of them have the same range and nearly the same attack speed (machete is slightly slower) while the machete deals higher damage (more than double). The Machete deals considerably less damage than the [[Fire axe]], but is much lighter which conserves [[weight-blocks]]. The Machete's alt-fire deals more damage but is slower than the primary-fire. 

The low weight of the Machete can also make it a useful backup weapon while conserving weight for heavier weapons. It is the lightest melee weapon available weighing at only one block.

The Machete may be found lying on the ground.

The [[berserker]] perk receives bonuses for the use of a Machete and spawns with one at level 5.

==Tactics==
*[[Hit-and-run tactics]] works extremely well with the Machete, basically run forward and slash, then run backwards to wait for the cooldown, then run forward and slash again (repeat until the [[specimen]] dies).
*Avoid engaging [[Siren]]s, [[Scrake]]s, [[Fleshpound]]s and the [[Patriarch]] due to the Machete's low damage output.

*Fast attack rate;
*Reliable to keep [[Patriarch]] busy with hit and run as he whiffs and team focus fires;
*Often found lying around and sold for a good price of 375£ off-perk;
*Offers speedbonus onperk like other Berserker weapons;
*High headshot multiplier of 1.25x, decapitates lesser specimens with a single slash;
*Very lightweight;
*Allow experienced players to perform Scrake flinch trick for speedkills;
*Extremely useful in the hands of a Level 3+ Berserker or a high level Field Medic;
*Makes a good backup weapon to heavy (ie. [[Hunting shotgun]], [[Chainsaw]]), slow (ie. [[Scythe]]) or low ammo (ie. [[MP7M]]) weapons.

===Disadvantages===
*Limited range;
*Falters at the terms of damage against medium-high threats, offperk or onperk;
*Requires precision to swing it due low damage, else gets you punished for it;
*Nearly useless against the big late-game specimens ([[Fleshpound]] and [[Patriarch]]), besides kiting and keeping them busy;
*Almost completely useless against [[Scrakes]], solely as they gain an inner cooldown for flinch at high difficulties;
*Has no wide reach unlike other heavier weapons, getting swarmed gives no recovery;
*Not really cheap for off-perk, considering the damage it offers.

==Origin==
It seems to be an Ontario Knife Company Spec Plus SP8 Machete, but it lacks the rear side saw teeth and lanyard hole.
